Rapala - Urban Back Pack - Ruck Sack

The Rapala Urban Back Pack is a cleverly designed, 2-in-1, feature rich, sturdy quality, all-purpose, 25 litre, carry-all, rucksack-styled bag with detachable waist/hip pack, that can be used for both fishing and urban use, but more pertinently, is of a size that makes it ideal for travel to carry on board a flight.

The bag comprises of a main central compartment that is large enough to hold tackle boxes and gear for fishing or apparel and personal effects for day hikes and overnighters.

The main compartment is sealed by twin zippers that unzip completely to the bag’s base to open fully for easy access. Within this compartment are 4 smaller handy sized stowage compartments, found on either side of the main compartment, and on the inner side of the outer flap to the main compartment.

Behind the main compartment is a zipped padded pocket that fits a 14” laptop making it ideal for its urban pedigree, but can also comfortably hold a 2 litre hydration bladder when out bashing through dense cover in search of fish or on an extended hike.

On the front flap of the main compartment is a molded EVA hard case pocket for storing items that make for easy access to sunglasses, mobile phone, keys etc. Beneath this hard case, is an expandable front pocket that can be used for storing additional items such as leader line, gloves, or wet gear that are to be kept separate from the main compartment’s contents.

The outer flap to the main compartment is secured on either side with an adjustable webbing that not only prevents the contents of the main compartment from spilling out when opened fully, but acts to compact and hold the contents securely in place when drawn tightly, which also helps ease stress off the main compartment’s zips and seams.

The webbing uses a cleverly designed cleat system that allows for adjustment of the webbing, which can also be easily detached from its lug points to allow for full access to the main compartment. For neatness, the tag ends of the webbing are stowed away in stretchable belt loops.

On either side of the Urban Back Pack are conveniently located meshed pockets that can double up as a rod holder, or as a water bottle holder, which can both be secured in place with the pocket’s draw string.

Where however this bag shines in design innovation and gives it, its 2-in-1 feature, is the detachable supportive hip belt that when used in conjunction with the adjustable chest straps, makes the Urban Back Pack ideal for taking on long hikes, but when removed, can be used as a full feature standalone waist/hip pack.

The waist/hip pack includes a central zipped pouch for keeping valuables such as passport, wallet, mobile phone etc and numerous webbing loops as secure attachment points located on the outside of the pouch.

On the left side of the waist pack, is a zipped pouch that is large enough to keep keys and coins. On the outside of this side pouch is a plier holder, and a lanyard lug point for secure attachment of the plier. On the right side of the waist pack, are 3 velco covered pockets that can be used for storing an LED torch, lighter or Swiss Army knife etc.

A 3D ventilated back panel with padding has been incorporated into the back of the bag for heat dissipation and comfort when carried for long periods along with the adjustable padded shoulder strap.

A handily located carrier strap is located at the top of the bag for ease of carriage along with a recessed zipped pocket for stowage of other items that is to be kept separate from the main compartment.

The Rapala Urban Back Pack is finished in grey/black digi camo with reflective strips, making it ideal for both hiking, and the trendy urban setter.
