A-RB Bearings

The Stella SW’s A-RB (anti-rust) stainless steel ball bearings are at least 10 times more resistant to corrosion than standard stainless steel ball bearings.

The bearings are intentionally designed without a shield-housing to expose the bearings for easy maintenance – trapped debris can be flushed away and the bearings and be easily lubricated.

In addition, without the presence of a shield-housing, lighter viscosity lubricant is needed thereby reduce friction and wear which in turn allow the bearings to spin faster and longer.

Dyna-Balance

The Stella SW’s rotor has been electronically counter balanced to eliminate wobble and vibration thereby enhancing sensitivity and smoothness.

Power Roller

The Stella SW relies on an oversized reverse tapered line roller dissipate line pressure and reduce line-twist on casting and retrieval.

Slow Oscillation

The Stella SW’s slow rotor oscillation system is designed to lay line in a tightly pack order in a parallel pattern that ensures that the top layer of line does not bury itself into the immediately underlying layers. The result of this consistent line-lay is excellent castability and control for the angler.

Stopperless Design

The Stella SW has eliminated the need for a reverse switch to prevent dust and water intrusion in to the gear housing.

Waterproof Drag

The Stella SW relies on rubber gaskets to protect against the intrusion of water and debris into the pure carbon drag system to prevent gear failure.

Super Duralumin Drive Gear

The Stella SW’s drive gear is constructed out of A7075 series super Duralumin aircraft grade aluminium alloy for high strength and low weight. To provide resistance to scratches and saltwater corrosion, the Stella SW’s drive gear is further coated with a layer of black Almite anodising.

Cold Forged Aluminum Spool

To eliminate spool wobble, the Stella SW spools are constructed from cold forged aluminium, which makes it far stronger and more durable than die cast aluminium or graphite spools.

Maintenance Port

The Stella SW comes with a maintenance port that allows for easy access to the drive train that must be lightly lubricated only with Shimano’s Reel Oil and Grease Sprays (Model SP-003H) as provided with the Stella SW range. Use of any after market sprays will not suffice and may cause premature corrosion or damage to the reel.
