Ocean Ruler’s Feather Jig Walker is a killer lure to work the rocky flats for fish. Its offset pyramidal shape ensures that the jig always lands on its base. The purpose of this design is to:
(i) increase the appeal of the jig to fish by ensuring that both its eyes are visible when resting momentarily on the surface bed as it is being worked; and
(ii) keep the tail hook facing upwards to decrease the chances of snagging.
In addition, the incline of the pyramidal shape on each side of the jig creates a wobbling/rolling action that will send shimmers off the hologram surface of the jig that is guaranteed to get the attention of fish.
The Ocean Ruler Feather Jig Walker comes with 2 lug points, one slightly positioned at the top of the jig’s head, and the other slightly below its nose. Depending on the terrain, a different action can be obtained from the Feather Jig Walker by connecting you leader to either of the lug points.
By connecting to the lug point below the nose, the Feather Jig Walker, can be made to ‘walk” over coral and rocky surfaces to reduce chances of snagging – see video below. For less snaggy terrain, such as sandy bottoms, the lug above the Feather Jig Walker’s head can be use, which makes this lure work more like a conventional jig as it is worked over the sea bed.
Lastly, the position of the tail lug will ensure that the tail hook never faces downwards to reduce the chances of snagging.
The Ocean Ruler Feather Jig Walker has been designed to accommodate a variety of tail hooks from flies, to soft plastic pintails or curly tailed grubs. It is truly up to the angler to experiment with this Feather Jig Walker on what works in their local waters, which makes this jig such a killer lure to work the rock flats.
