By all counts, the Messiah 105 is not your typical squid jig. Instead of being shaped in the form of a shrimp, the Messiah 105 squid jig is shaped in the form of a fish, which is the most targeted and favoured prey of squid. Unlike typical squid jigs with their keel weight protruding on the outside of the jig, the Messiah 105 comes with an integrated weight system within the body of the lure. This helps reduce air resistance during flight, which contributes significantly in casting distances (where distances of up to 48m have been achieved with the Messiah 105 squid jig). To enhance its squid appeal, the hard body of the Messiah 105 has been angulated to enable super wide darting and course deviation action of up to 140 degrees from its original heading (the average cloth wrapped squid jig may only be able to achieve up to 80 degrees), which when twitched, will guarantee to attract the attention of any marauding squid. The body of the Messiah 105 is roughened to provide squid with better holding ability as achieved with cloth/gauze-like wrappings on typical squid jigs. However, unlike typical cloth wrapped squid jigs that run the risk of cloth tear and peeling, the Messiah 105’s hard body circumvents these common problems.
